Given that my last blog post was in February, there is so much to tell!
Back at the end of June, I released the ‘Songs Without Words’ book and EP. I was honored to host a VIP Preview Event for the book at Masure Gallery in Fort Worth. It was a fantastic event, and it felt incredible to see a selection of my darkroom prints actually hanging in a gallery space! I performed a few pieces from the EP, and I greatly enjoyed speaking with guests about the project.
In July, I hosted a book/EP launch on the patio at The Wild Detectives in Dallas. It was a bit warm, but we had a wonderful time. I really enjoyed speaking with everyone who came. I played some selections from the EP, Prisma Film Lab sponsored a giveaway of two gift certificates for development, and we even had a signature cocktail for the event called ‘Safelight’!
July was a big month for printing, too! After the book/EP events, I had to continue printing for my show at the Lewisville Grand Theater from 7-18 to 8-15-26. The final show for Lewisville was a selection of twenty-four framed 11x14" darkroom prints, and we hosted an Opening Reception on Sunday, 7-19. We had a great turnout, and at 125 linear feet, it was the largest exhibition of my work that I have shown so far!
I'm also extremely pleased to have a copy of ‘Songs Without Words’ available at Point of View/Cafe Momento in Fort Worth. I love this place, and I would highly recommend them to anyone in the DFW area.
After the exhibition was installed, Rebecca and I left for a long road trip to New Mexico, Colorado, Utah, Arizona, and back to Texas. We stopped in Tucumcari for the first night, then we drove to Royal Gorge, and then to visit her family in Dillon, CO for a few days. I was a little worried for my guitar at Dead Horse Point, as it was less than 20% relative humidity!
Upon returning to Texas, I had UNT College of Music Graduate Orientation, followed by beginning classes. My first semester in the guitar studio includes a Music History course, guitar lessons with Dr. Byun, lute lessons with Stephen Lochbaum, and chamber music with a flute player. I'm really looking forward to working on the Piazzolla Histoire du Tango with flute, and we'll also be looking at the Leisner Dances in a Madhouse.
That pretty much catches us up, but there are some exciting developments I'll hopefully be able to talk about in my next post!
